Performance Table checking

Hi

 

Wondering if anyone has had a similar situation or knows of an answer...

 

If a pupil in year 11, at this late stage, with severe SEN is moved back to year 10 or applies to move to a special school, is there grounds for them to be removed from the y11 cohort in table checking, given that they would have been in the Spring census. If so, what evidence is required?

their results will count for the cohort they should have been a member of based on age, i think you might need to enter them as "not at end of key stage 4" in the tables checking exercise in June.

We had problems last year when County told us they would move certain pupils out but didn't and we ended up with them on the census and counting towards our results. When the table checking exercise came around we tried to remove them but we were denied the opportunity to do so. This year we've been extra careful and ignored county.

 

I don't know what the case will be if you move the pupil back a year at this stage; we had a pupil out of year not so long ago and at the time of checking the data we were able to state that they were out of year and not to be counted this year, though she did count the next year. However, she was already in Y10 at census.

To be honest I don't know t answer about moving back a year after the spring census. One thing to be aware of though (if you're not already) is the 'Add-Back' rule. If you move a student back a year they will count in your performance figures for the next year even if they move schools. I assume this is to stop schools from cynically holding a student back in the hope (or knowledge) that they will be leaving.
