SouthCoastSaint Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Has anyone noticed that the Year 7 data is now in Key To Success BUT for all years, not just 7s, they have removed the APS column from the CSV. I use this all the time, can't believe it's just disappeared.
Ecclesbury Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 I've also just spotted this and had a little stomach lurch as this was always my fallback! Is it just me or are the Level 6 test scores also no longer there? I have a few new Year 8s that I want to get Ks2 results for and I'm getting an imcomplete picture. Does anyone have any further info on this or is it worth contacting the DfE to see what's up?

I wonder whether they have removed it to stop schools from tinkering around with Progress 8. They might be changing their minds about how APS is calculated and/or whether the level 6 info is going to be included in the this calculation when looking at Progress 8 and KS2 - KS4 progress etc.

I will try the Hampshire data team too although not sure they use K2S, they seem to get sent data directly. If they are changing their minds about the calculation, isn't that all the more reason for us to be able to see what they are using? As it stands, I can't even look up a new Year 10 student and see their APS, which always agreed with the Raise figures.
KSimp Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 FFT produce a decimal KS2 points in Aspire - when I have compared it to data I previously downloaded from Key to Success the scores are slightly different, I have contacted them to ask why as I also need a source of this data.
AmandaLambert Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Another way to calculate APS (try it): 1. You need the Decimal Fine Grade KS2 SAT scores for En & Ma. 2. Multiply both grades by 6 (En 4.93, Ma 5.67, times by 6 = En 29.58 Ma 34.02) 3. Average of 29.58 & 34.02 = APS (31.8) I have tested this on my current Yr10 & Yr11 & it works perfectly & matches the Key to Success APS download (except where initial decimal grades are any 2 or 1 grades).
bobsmith Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 As an addendum, for the years without an English overall result, you take the SP&G (GPS) and reading result and divide by 2, then add that to the maths and divide that by 2.
SouthCoastSaint Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Amanda that is how 4Matrix do it, and it always cross matches for us with the downloaded Key To Success numbers. We have had so many new students here mid term this year, Key To Success was a perfect way of getting the APS before I can access the decimal levels on FFT Live which is so slow to update. Do you get your decimal levels from anywhere else?
AmandaLambert Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Our county stats team produce a spreadsheet which converts all SAT Marks into all the variants of KS2 data: Fine Point, Decimalised, Sub Level & Level. I know that county teams have access to national data that we do not at school. So for every year of SATs there is a different conversion table as the boundaries change each year. I would have posted an example but I cannot see a way of posting an extract here.

I have come across spreadsheets that are on Hertfordshire Grid for Learning Just google "KS2 (insert year here) marks fine level" and the top result is from them with a link to a spread sheet where you can enter your data into and it does all the calculations for you in terms of APS, fine level etc. I hope this helps someone out there
SouthCoastSaint Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 We have previously used the Hertfordshire Grid for Learning for new Year 7s before Key To Success publish(ed) the APS but always had some adjustment to make to align them to the Gov figures once K2S is updated. I know I repeat myself, but if we are judged against a starting point and the DfE KNOW that starting point, it should be shared with schools so that we can all work from the same data. I check back most days to K2S in case the column has returned on the CSV. Was still missing yesterday
Jennie Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I don't have access to Key to Success - can someone confirm that the KS2 DL (decimal level) and FG (fine grade) columns are still included, if the APS is not? Capita are changing the way SIMS calculates Progress 8 and Attainment 8 in the School Report to use aspects holding these results from K2S in the summer release....
Sods_Laur Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 No, it gives the raw marks and the whole level TA, you have to work out the fine points/levels yourself Which is why there is so much confusion I expect. I seem to spend half my life on Ks2 and fiddling with spreadsheets to try and get the fine levels.
