mark80 Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Hey I have been led to believe that Short Course GCSE subjects will not be counting in the performance tables for 2014 Link to document 5. Will GCSEs still count in the performance tables? Full course GCSEs will continue to count in the 2014 performance tables and will each count as equivalent to ‘one’. Smaller qualifications, including short course GCSEs, will not count in the tables. Double award GCSEs (one qualification, currently counting as two in the tables) will count as one from 2014. Dual award GCSEs (two qualifications in the same subject that are not currently discounted by the tables) will continue to count as two. BUT I have looked on the EDEXCEL website and found this Link to website, although it says NO, it does throw up the questio of "what are the wider performance measures" 12.Will short-course GCSEs be recognised in the headline measures from 2014? A: No. Short course GCSEs are only 60 GLH in size. To be recognised in the headline measures from 2014, qualifications have to be a minimum of 120 GLH (equivalent to 1 GCSE). They will continue to be reflected in the wider performance measures and those for an individual student.

gazskeltz Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Hi, My understanding is that Short courses will count for the student, but not for the school (the same with anything the student gets. Also, students can bank resit higher results whereas a school can only bank the first attempt.
