ajp233 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 At the end of October last year the government made an announcement regarding early entry at GCSE that stated: “From 29 September 2013 a pupil’s first entry in a particular subject will count towards the school’s performance tables. For those who have already completed an eligible qualification (summer 2013 or previously), the performance tables (and associated data, such as that held on RAISEonline) will still record their best result from either their previous attempt or from the next time they sit a qualification in that subject. Those who have not yet taken an eligible qualification in the subject will have their first eligible qualification taken after 29 September 2013 count in performance tables.” To me however the above statement is not clear on what would be taken if a student had multiple results prior to 29 September. Is the best result across all attempts prior to 29 September taken and then compared to the first result after this date, with the best grade being recorded OR is only the most recent attempt prior to 29 September taken and compared with the first result after that date?? Does anyone have any idea what the Performance Tables and RAISE would record against the school for the following pupil? Nov 2012 – Grade U Jan 2013 – Grade F Mar 2013 – Grade G Jun 2014 – Grade G Would they record a grade G or a grade F??
mark80 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 School would count an F as the date of the exam pre dates 29th september 2013 Student always gets the best grade regardless If they got a D in Jun 2014 then the school and the upil would count the D

We have someone like this: Nov 2012 – Grade D Mar 2013 – Grade D Jun 2013 – Grade C Nov 2013 - Grade D Jun 2014 – predicted Grade B The C will count in performance tables, but the student's being re-re-entered because they want a B to go on and do AS and, since they actually got a higher mark (something like 14% selon Head of Maths) in November than June it's been approved.
