geekgirl Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Any one else getting ready to collect and upload their KS3 Teacher Assessment data to the NCA Tools website? It's my first time doing this so just interested if anyone else has done it? The preferred method of uploading is exporting it from SIMS as a CFT file from the imported templates but as we use Go4Schools and not SIMS Assessment Management we have to upload it as a excel file (not sure what format yet as I haven't had a account created for the NCA Tools website).

timetableman Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 You can upload into excel, but you have to use their excel template - you can't use your own. - It is password protected you'll have to do vlookups/index match to link the UPN of the students they expect compared to those students you ACTUALLY have. We uploaded ours at the beginning of the week, and have been bombarded with calls from the NCA re students who have left, students who have joined, etc. In the first two calls we were told there are "7 students missing from your submission" but they wouldn't say who these were. During the week we have now submitted this information 5 times. If you have problems get it escalated to a NCA manager - if the data doesn't exactly match their records - i.e. a student has changed their name via deed-poll (or court order) - we've had both, the NCA want the data changing at our end and re-submit.
geekgirl Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Well I logged onto the NCA Tools website to download their excel sheet to see what it looked like and after checking the instructions I thought using SIMS Assessment Manager was fairly easier for us as a school to input our data instead and then export it as a CFT format to upload to the website. I've input half of the data so far and I'm waiting for Maths End of KS3 data from HOD. When it's completed (hopefully by Wednesday/Thursday!) I'll upload it! I hope we don't have any problems like timetableman did.
timetableman Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Our first two uploads were CTFs straight out of Facility, but because that didn't include leavers, or out of year students, it seemed to cause half of the problems we then encountered. - Good Luck!
CAM Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I collect results in Assessment Manager for end of year reports and I roll the KS3 returns into that. Teachers fill it in as part of normal reporting as I have a column with the same Aspect and Result Set for the returns marksheets and I send it off via CTF.

ICTLady Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 OK this is my first time of doing this so please excuse the stupid question. I have my Y9 students in a marksheet with an aspect each containing their Eng, Ma and Sci levels for the data return. How do I create a CTF including only those aspects? And how do I exclude new students who are not on the spreadsheet from NCA Tools? I'm looking at the Export CTF screen but it doesn't seem to give me the option to choose particular aspects or students. Have been round and round the NCA website looking for guidance but can't find it!

QWERTY72 Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 Only trouble I had, was that the website expected me to submit data for less students than what I actually had, as there was quite a fluctuation of leavers and new arrivals between census day and the 13th of May. But I cross-checked my list with the list of students they expected me to have, before simply stating that my figure is the correct one!
