LosOjos Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Hi all, been looking to get in to this geocaching for a while now - what tools do you lot use to help you? Is there a particular website you would say is best? Do you use apps or rely on co-ordinates given at the website? Thinking this could be a fun game to get the little one on board with - provided people don't tend to leave behind anything dodgy?
CatherineMay Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Hi, if you use this link: Geocaching - The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site you will find all your questions answered. Really good fun, make me feel like a teenager again.
aerospacemango Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Hi Los, Me and my ex used to do it with our son....I'm gonna be starting up again, in the very near future! He loved it, and one of the best parts was being able to find a cache, that wasn't obvious, and instead of pulling it straight out, I'd tell the son that I couldn't find it, and that he should try. It was a great way of engaging him in the search. I've not seen anything dodgy, in any of the caches that I've found, and you're encouraged to take something, and leave something. I've just found my login details for the above-named website, and it's fairly simple to get the co-ords for local caches. Good luck with your little one....but be prepared for some LONG walks!!!
chilbs Posted October 13, 2011 Author Posted October 13, 2011 I use Geocaching.com, Motorola Defy and my only paid for App is the official Geocaching.com app. I also went caching from the conference. Chilbs
