We are using papercut MF. We've had a case where a user has walked up to machine and said it failed to print upon basic troubleshooting this was caused by no paper in the drawer is there a way to tell the user in front the device that this there is no paper?

I know it' possible with papercut pocket

There is an option in Papercut to prevent release to a device if it is considered "in error."

But in terms of it being out of paper - that's the copiers job.

If the copier didn't flash a message/red light about a tray being out of paper, then it would be the first I've ever seen without that feature.

However it wouldn't be the first time I've known a user to totally ignore a flashing notice and red light!

That will be because the block the release of jobs if in error is on, there is no way on the copier for the user to fix this other than rebooting the copier or getting someone in the PaperCut console to update. I've not looked at the refresh period as it help to prevent our users printing and saving that little bit.

I know on Sharps with PaperCut MF it will auto refresh if left but these machines do flash when in error (on newer ones). If its an issue I'd look at the refresh period for pooling that informaton from the copier, I'm not near my setup at the moment so cannot double check it at the moment.
