chazzy2501 Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 # Define the path to the setup.exe and configuration file $setupPath = "\\fileserv1\distribution point\office2024\setup.exe" $configPath = "\\fileserv1\distribution point\office2024\BeamOffice2024Pupil1.xml" # Run the Office Deployment Tool with the configuration file Start-Process -FilePath $setupPath -ArgumentList "/configure $configPath" -Wait -NoNewWindow Running the script, office says it can't find the configuration file. The config path is correct and readable. the config is valid as I can use it in a cmd window just fine. "\\fileserv1\distribution point\office2024\setup.exe" /configure "\\fileserv1\distribution point\office2024\BeamOffice2024Pupil1.xml" I'm wanting to add this to a startup script eventually. cheers!
Davit2005 Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 Some time back I did do this as a startup script. The script would check if the software did not exist before deploying. Will have a look to see if I can find it.
chazzy2501 Posted January 28, 2025 Author Posted January 28, 2025 oh crud, that's a good idea! check if already installed!
chazzy2501 Posted January 28, 2025 Author Posted January 28, 2025 sorry, got lazy and asked copilot to write a bat file: @echo off REM Check if Office is installed reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\Configuration" >nul 2>&1 if %ERRORLEVEL%==0 ( echo Office is already installed. Exiting script. exit /b ) REM Run the Office Deployment Tool with the configuration file "\\fileserv1\distribution point\office2024\setup.exe" /configure "\\fileserv1\distribution point\office2024\BeamOffice2024Pupil1.xml" not only does this work but it installs asynchronously so doesn't hold up the boot process. NICE!
