Headphones or Headsets For Primary School

Just realised I asked the same question a while ago, however any updates would be good especially regarding Headsets

Hi,

 

I need to restock our schools headphones. Our classes average around 30 children.

Laptops used by pupils are Fujitsu Lifebooks running Windows 10, these only have a single 3.5mm audio out, so we have been using headphones only, but the built in Mics on the Laptop are pretty bad an d you have to have your mouth quite close to the top of the screen to speak - not ideal.

We also use iPads so if we were to opt for USB Headsets for the Laptops we'd need to buy wired single 3.5mm jack headphones for the iPads.

So can anyone recommend some decent quality Headphones with a 3.5mm audio jack, or Headsets with built in Microphone - single 3.5mm audio (if such a device exists).

 

I have two boxes that can be booked out for whole class and 2 pairs of headphones in each class. 2 Form entry school with 3 mixed year 3 / 4 classes.

 

I have bought various headphones in the past and none have stood the test of time or use.

We currently have a mix of:

CAMVIS - CAV203C (These are the latest we bought, fairing quite well with fewest failures)

Caliphone 3068AV (Probably lasted the longest but all now started to break, usually the indep volume controls)

Stereo Educational Headphones - CH435 (Absolute rubbish quality, spring is to weak and do not sit on the ears correctly)

Sorry - the "almost unbreakable" models at the top. I've also got some of the "foldable lightweight rugged" ones too. No problems with any of them.

Ah ok.

 

The almost unbreakable ones look good, but the detachable lead, whilst a good idea, I know for sure will lead to problems of missing leads :-) No one bothers to put them back in the bags either.

I would like these robust ones but I am sure the mic booms will get snapped and they don't come in a handy carry case :-)

 

So although probably not as robust I am tempted by the foldable lightweight ones (are these the ones you have), nothing to fall out and nothing to get snapped off.

 

Do they work with iPads as well as Laptops / Chromebook?

I am not clued up on the various audio jack differences?

Just need to find out if our Lifebooks are TRRS compatible? Should be as they only have 1 x 3.5mm audio port

I'm using headfoams from Amazon.

 

We've got over 250 of them, some are 5 years old and we have had 1 or 2 breakages of cords which have been repaired.

Yes those are the foldable lightweight ones we use. 4 Pole ones work fine on our Thinkpads and I think it's kinda the standard now, if you don't have separate headphone/mic jacks.

Yes they are VERY hardwearing! It's felt like just chucking other headphones into the grinder honestly whereas these have stood the test of time and seen out multiple generations of other types. And they're only about 2x the price with (conservatively) 3895348x the lifetime.

 

I just went all mad on a 32-pack.

Yeah they are similar to ones produced by "Hills components" that were the go-to models in the past. Hills closed down and Crusader started selling them and have developed them a bit further too.

 

Don't shout it too loud in case they are listening but I agree they are a bargain given the build quality. Barring absolute vandalism they are rock solid.

+1 for Crusader as well, the ones Synkrox was on about are brilliant - the USB version gets over the only having one AV port (normally these ones use 4 section jacks) and also the cables can be purchased separately if they get broken, as well as the ear foams.
