cgilmour Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Hi, Our Data Manager has been using Classright to populate classes in google classroom for the past couple of years but it appears to have disppeared from the list of installed apps and I can't see it in the workplace apps. Does any one know if it's been withdrawn or if there's an alternative if it has? Regards Chris
rogerdnixon Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Took a quick look on our admin console and its not their as an app to add. I've reach out to the publisher. As far as alternatives go, if you have a modern MIS e.g Bromcom or Arbor - they have native tools to manage users and keep Classrooms up to date. We use the Bromcom one that works well. Other options include Windows Google Sync which we used before Bromcom which is fine. Salamander is another sync tool that can do it. Or you can create your own scripts and use the command line tool GAM. 1
Primus Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 We'd massively recommend Salamander - it's superb. 3
Sohailahmad Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Ahh geez, I noticed this last week, I too reached out to the publisher, haven't had a response. Classright was brilliant, easy, free tool to help manage my Classrooms for school that don't have (afford) the likes of Salamander, Locker etc.. It even had an API which allowed me to find old Classrooms that were manually created, old, sitting dormant that I needed to close down/archive. It's impacted me for a couple of schools which is now slowing me down. A simple but effective tool with many options. Anyone know if any alternatives just in case Goldy Arora will not be bringing it back? If Google offered these settings natively in Workspace, we wouldn't need to reply on 3rd party tools. GAM I have used before, just more compicated to use. We have SIMS and Arbor, do you know if they offer any 1st party tools for Google?
Sohailahmad Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 (edited) For Arbor schools https://support.arbor-education.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017930018-Arbor-integration-with-Google-Classroom It's not free..I'll find out costs. SIMS requires SIMS ID to be set up, if you have a local installation, I don't know how that would work. Edited December 18, 2024 by Sohailahmad
