Aftab_Ahmed Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 With all the discussions going on with MIS and latest data trends, there is a fundamental issue to discuss in relation to finance systems. For example schools that were on SIMS and using FMS - I was wondering what they moved to and if the transition was OK. Likewise it would be good to get other views on any finance application changes msde in line with MIS changes and why you chose that particular application.
synaesthesia Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Should be quite a lot easier, as FMS had been phased out by a lot more schools long before they got rid of SIMS. Systems like corero, PSF, Sage all ticking the boxes. I've stayed very much out of that in most cases as they're nearly all cloud based and just work.
aac Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 We moved from FMS to Sage 50 Accounts 9 years ago and have just ditched Sage and gone with Hoge 100
CHiLL Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 We were a SIMS and FMS school and migrated to Bromcom for the MIS a couple of years ago. We were going to move finance over too, but if I recall the details from our finance officer correctly, the council played hardball and threatened that if we move away from FMS, they will not be able to accept certain files or something from us, since Bromcom's finance module cannot/could not create it. We are now becoming a cheque book school, as the council divorce all schools and our finance officer would like to keep FMS at least until this process is complete for stability and possibly look at it again in a year or two. So for now, we are stuck with FMS.
Aftab_Ahmed Posted December 13, 2024 Author Posted December 13, 2024 Interesting - but surely the council were able to see if there was a finance system that would greatly enhance processes within schools - that they should be encouraging it. Or is it because the contract was through the council in the first place ??

If you want to drop me a message to let me know which reports did not work for your LA I can have a look into it for you. Kirsty 1
