petben Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 (edited) If I need to completely reinstall an Intune device (I actually want to use MDT with a vanilla W11 image - if it's completely F'd) There's 3 places Intune device Entra device Autopilot entry After imaging and running through autopilot It seems to error on 'registering your device for mobile mgmt' unless I remove it from all 3 of those places and then reimport the autopilot .csv. surely there's a better way? EDIT - In fact even just doing a 'reset' of a working device it fails on 'registering your device for mobile mgmt' Edited December 2, 2024 by petben
Oaktech Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Following... That's what I've been doing and it beggars belief that there isn't a blanket 'nuke this device from orbit' button.
jnfarmer Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 I've never had to go as far back as reimporting the hardware hash. But yes, having to remove from many locations is a massive PITA. It would just be nice if the error given was a bit more helpful as well.

You can delete the device from Intune but not Entra if it has a connected autopilot device, so it’s either just Intune or all 3 meaning a reimport of Autopilot. What process do you follow?
petben Posted December 2, 2024 Author Posted December 2, 2024 I think it’s also relevant what deployment profile type you’re using. We use ‘self deploying’, where apparently you can ‘unblock device’ (as it has a 1 deploy limit)….but that doesn’t seem to work either. Why so tricky Microsoft?

I think I have previously just deleted from Intune, but now I am doubting myself as I haven't used Intune for a few months, although will be starting again at my new place.
