dapaulio Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Wondfer if you all could help, I read somewhere , im sure it was here that Adobe reportedly instructing organisations to remove all versions of CS3-6 and that no one is permitted to use/install the software following the deactivation of their servers. Since reading this i have been moving schools away from CS and not had much resistance however one of my customers needs a little more convincing, and i was hoping to find the article / adobe publication i once read informing us that all cs suites had to be removed Thanks in advance
3s-gtech Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Dunno. I activated CS6 offine (using their code generation system, on their servers) last week. I don’t like the changing of licensing terms after purchase (when I agreed to them) so they can rotate upon my neatly extended digit. 2
dapaulio Posted November 18, 2024 Author Posted November 18, 2024 I am unfortunately advising as a third party and have to be seen to doing the right thingfor legality reason. Regardless on my actual thoughts and opinions on the matter But yeah I agree
3s-gtech Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Technically it has reached end of support (long ago!) so from a professional angle that’d be the line. Same as running old versions of Windows, Office, MacOS etc, you would recommend against its continued use. I believe what you saw related to Creative Cloud directly, but it may indeed affect CS. https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/05/13/adobe-warning-of-legal-problems-if-users-keep-using-old-versions-of-creative-cloud-apps 2
FN-GM Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 It wouldn’t be a good idea to use it anyway. It will be riddled with security vulnerabilities. 1
dapaulio Posted November 18, 2024 Author Posted November 18, 2024 Yes I think it was this I read but sure it mentioned creative suite also. Maybe it was a similar reporting article. I agree for any out of date the official line is not supported go with this. But schools tend to blur the lines where I am not in a position I can blur the lines. The conversation is easier when I have things like this in my back pocket to evidence and support my advice

Jeopardising that by knowingly deploying software that could cause a security incident will likely have consequences.
PotNoodleTech Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 It wouldn’t be a good idea to use it anyway. It will be riddled with security vulnerabilities. This - from a cyber security point of view anything that isnt recieving regular updates any more is a no go as it just drastically increased the chance of you being the next hacked school in the newspapers. That argument should be enough.
