chazzy2501 Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 Trying to install "AVerTouch Win v1.3.2097.0 (msi)" for an avervision F17+ that the English Dept. purchased without consultation. Anyhow above having to download the drivers at 300kb/s (so 20 minute download) the bloody software keeps faulting out saying I have to be an administrator! Well I am an admin so I suspect another issue.. anyone running this software? (I've tried compatibility and Run AS)
synaesthesia Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 "Please return this as not fit for purpose, and consult with IT for a suitable replacement". If it needs admin to run, it's not fit for purpose and entirely upon them for being daft. No doubt being Aver, it was probably a few hundred quid too!
CHiLL Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 Try granting modify permissions for a test staff user to the folder where the application is installed. I've found that sometimes resolves those sorts of UAC or admin access prompts.
chazzy2501 Posted November 12, 2024 Author Posted November 12, 2024 Ahh, not the running of the software, I can't even install it!
Koldov Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 Might not be very helpful depending on how you're trying to deploy, but there is also an exe on their website. https://www.aver.com/Downloads/search?q=AVerTouch Top one.
CHiLL Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 Ahh, not the running of the software, I can't even install it! Oh ok! Have you tried copying the installer to the local C:\ drive or a subfolder in there? I've noticed some (looking at you Adobe Creative Cloud) that won't install from a network drive and others that won't run from "system folders", including the root of the C:\ drive (looking ay you Intel Arc drivers).
