Popular Post ibpalle Posted November 7, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 7, 2024 Hello everyone The new Smoothwall release 'Maiden' is finally live. We have a knowledge base article here on preparing the upgrade. https://kb.smoothwall.com/hc/en-us/articles/5885066421916-Prepare-to-update-to-Maiden Personally I would recommend everyone to take a look and plan on updating. The new kernel in Maiden has improved performance in almost all areas. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. 5
howartp Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Have to say, we installed Maiden over half term and touchwood, none of our daily Auth/Proxy falling over or poor SIP phone quality issues (which each required 1 or sometimes 2 Smoothwall reboots) have reared their heads this week.

HyperV isn't an issue. There is one if you are using VMware and VMWare tools. The UI will tell you. No refund! Just like we aren't charging extra for all the additional features we add constantly
timbo343 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Been running Maiden for over a year here (since Maiden 4) and it's been solid 2

Been running Maiden for over a year here (since Maiden 4) and it's been solid Four days later, we've been pushing out app updates via MDM all day long - which would previously kill Leeds in an instant. Maiden hasn't even blinked! 3
synaesthesia Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Been running maiden since mid Sept if memory serves, and it certainly seems to have improved. Previously on Leeds, for no apparent reason auth etc just seemed to "have one of those days" needing a reboot to give it a kick. Touching a forest worth of wood, so far so good. 2
tom_newton Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 Nice to hear some stories of improved performance. You'll be pleased to know we havent run out of castles - Newport is actually my daily driver for mucking about with on-prem stuff on my hyper-v VM now.
