Chromebook - WIFI Issues

Hi all,

We have a customer that are currently having issues when using Chromebooks on WIFI.

Ethernet is fine.

 

Rebooting the Chromebook or the Wireless Access Point seems to resolve the issue.

Turning off/on the WIFI also helps.

 

From the reports, users are using the Chromebooks, then the connection just drops.

 

The school use a Fortigate firewall with a Openreach wires only connection.

 

The WIFI is Unifi - we've tried optimising settings but doesn't seem to have made a difference.

 

Windows devices are fine, seems to be exclusive with the Chromebooks.

 

Any help is appreciated!

which range of unifi acess points? ive had issues with U6 aps on certain firmware.

 

if your clients are starting to get dense make sure multicast and broadcast controll are off unless your dhcp servers are whitelisted.

 

try tolling back the firmware a couple of versions untill you get stability

 

for UAP AC PRO my go to firmware is: 6.5.62 if that helps, my few u6 are currently on the latest stable release without any issues?

UAP AC PRO - 6.6.77

U6 PRO - 6.6.77

All firmware fully up to date, will suggest a rollback.

I'll also look into the multicast/broadcast control.

its also worth hitting the unifi releases page and see if other users get the same issues on those firmwares.

 

 

unifi is great but auto updates on the access points is one you learn to avoid!

 

I usually test in our offices ap, if no issues upgrade all of our head office if no issues do one school, if no issues do a couple more, then do the lot
