Windows 11 SE for teachers?

Hi Folks,

 

Not sure if anyone in this platform has already done this, but the school I work at plans to use Microsoft Intune to deploy Microsoft surfaces for teacher-use.

We're planning to deploy them with Windows 11 SE.

 

I got a few questions here since I just briefly engaged in this topic now (I know I'm late!). Would be great if I could get a couple answers here.

 

- Anyone who's set up Windows 11 SEs, can it be done through Microsoft Intune?

- Do you recommend deploying them for teacher use? Our school MIS is already cloud-based, so they would realistically only need Microsoft 365 installed.

- Apologies If I seem competent here, does this OS offer multiple monitors, extending screens?

- Are there any performance issues with SE? Can they run on a traditional Surface tablet (e.g. Surface pro 7.)

What is the decision to use SE even if you can? If you’re running hardware capable of full Windows then you may as well use it?

 

As far as I am aware SE isn’t a downloadable OS and therefore will only install on hardware that is was shipped with. Not sure you will even get it on a SP[emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]].

 

Intune fully support SE, it’s more SE not supporting a lot which is why not many have shifted to it. For example, the only programs you can install must come from the store and be approved by Microsoft for SE.

I would also question the reason for SE. You’ll be missing out on a lot of policies and control via InTune.
