In a primary school and I've been trialling Sign-In App as looking to move away from Inventry and hope someone could answer a few questions for me please.

How have you found evacuations and the speed of checking off the students? Using Inventry the office has a printed list for each class which they hand to the class teacher. Obviously this would mean staying behind and printing the current lists after the fire bell has gone off or maybe they know when the fire drill is about to take place and print the list before hand  but anyway it would make sense to have an iPad running Sign-In App for each class but that's not going to happen anytime soon. So if you have 1 iPad and are running round the playground checking off the students plus all the staff plus any visitors I expect that would take a significant amount of time.

I've used sign in app for a few years, happy with it. Some of us senior members of staff have the app on our phones that allows us to see who is on site and can run the evacuation from there. But, we don't have pupils to make off, it works for us with staff.

We've been running Sign In for a couple of years now.

More than happy with it. Easy to administer and keep on top of compared to the old Inventry system. We don't use it for students, only staff and visitors.

Regarding evacuations, all of our SLT have the app. It works pretty well. Anyone with the app can start an evacuation, which sends a notification to all devices running the app. All staff and visitor photos appear on there, so makes it easy enough to work out who is who if you are unfamiliar with the name.

The only issue we initially had was with mobile signal, as we are in a pretty rubbish area for signal, the app would struggle with keeping everything up-to-date. Not the apps fault, but something to bear in mind. Since we had new WiFi with connect the classroom, we now have outdoor wifi which solves this issue. (Yes, if there was a fire in the server room and the internet was down, we would have a problem...but SLT decided we could make do with the spotty phone signal in that instance.)

Think Iv just answered another one of your post re sign in

Sign in app all the way. They have mobile an app which any admin can take fire evacuation from any device with internet.

Signin is a build it yourself solution. They send you all the parts to build in to your reception area

They then give you a logon to the cloud hosted console for you to configure. Links with azure etc so updates automatically when you create accounts.

A must have imo is the additional sims write back license marking kids late

Further to my post above, how easy is it to add Paxton Net2 cards into the Sign-In App system? We would have the card reader add-on AKA Sign-In App Tap and it would be nice to import the whole Net2 card list but failing that and as we don't have that many cards they could be added one at a time.

It reads a different number from the card to the one stored in Paxton, but it is simple to enroll them on the iPad itself, just needs the card to be there. Users can do it themselves if you leave instructions with the iPad.

Thanks, that sounds easy enough.

Is it signin that reads the number backwards…. I have in memory a door system and sign in system that does read the same number but backwards and I can’t recall whether this is accurate but something to look for which will make registration even easier
