Good morning,

Happy New Term everyone :-)

Are any schools using any sort of social media management software? I've been asked to research what is out there so where best to start than ask here.

Many thanks

What are they trying to do or solve?

Most of the solutions are big money. Hootsuite was one of the big dogs when I used to look at this. Free version was great but limited. To use it among a team, so sharing a login and having posts marked with initials, or an audit trail generated, got expensive very quickly. Just had a look and the free version has gone and a Team license (3 users and 20 social accounts) is £249 per month!

It'd be difficult to see why you'd need it any more. No-one in their right mind is still using the artist formely known as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp are one and the same and easily manageable under Meta Business. Unless your school is being funky with Snapchat or TikTok (which ironically, I would suggest are both safer than X these days)

Tell me more about Meta Business? What are other schools doing to manage their social media?

I'm interested to know why you don't think X is safe these days? Not looking to judge or make a decision.

If you've paid for any ads or anything on Facebook then you're likely already using it. I'm not sure if it's still branded Meta Business, but Meta/Facebook has all the tools you need to manage all their platforms in one place including scheduled posts, audience management and advertising.

X is an absolute cesspit with little to no moderation, ownership has entirely tanked and has no interest in overall safety and I highly suspect that the recent ban in Brazil might soon start to be echoed elsewhere.

The other issue with X (aside from its new stance) is that it seems as though you need to be signed in to see anything, even content embedded elsewhere, which makes it's markedly less useful than before as a public announcement tool.

Twitter images are still whitelisted by Schools Broadband and since they now also whitelist Google image search thumbnails, there they are again now joined by all the other social media images and from everywhere else - even though they are category and url blocked..... along with all sorts of stuff that American Google safe search thinks if fine for American sensibilities, but for ours, less so. Weapons in particular.

If you wanna manage your social media easier, try Hootsuite or Buffer. You can schedule posts, handle multiple accounts, and check engagement all in one spot. Super simple to use.

I’ve also had good results with best smm panel. Their panels helped me grow my audience and boost engagement. Definitely worth a look!
