Role Overview:

As the Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing the UCS Foundation's IT resources which are fundamental to the academic and support operations. Reporting to the Head of IT and working alongside the Network Manager, your responsibilities will include technical troubleshooting, system configuration, administration, and maintaining up-to-date technical documentation. You will be essential in providing high-quality service to all Foundation staff, pupils, and the wider community.

 

Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day support of the Foundation’s IT resources.

• Contribute to technical leadership in managing core infrastructure and services.

• Prioritize workloads to maintain service levels and KPIs.

• Work with suppliers and third parties as directed by the Head of IT.

• Ensure regular review and updating of IT Systems policy and process documentation.

• Manage network infrastructure, server administration, and storage solutions.

• Establish robust data backup and recovery processes.

• Implement and manage security measures.

• Oversee hardware maintenance and cloud services management.

• Support and maintain collaboration tools and communication systems.

• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and service continuity plans.

• Ensure compliance with Foundation policies, safeguarding regulations, and legal requirements.

 

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Broad experience in supporting IT infrastructure, especially in an educational environment.

• Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

• Knowledge of various key technologies, including Windows operating systems, Hyper-V, Google Classroom, networking technologies, and more.

• Ability to communicate effectively with both high- and low-tech audiences.

• Calm and focused under pressure with the ability to prioritise effectively.

• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

This is a Network Engineer role that reports directly to the Network Manager. Senior Technicians or school engineers would find this an excellent opportunity for career advancement. We would consider candidates with this background for the role.
