Jaan Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Hi all, we don't allow staff to create additional Google Shared Drives. Each dept has a staff and student facing Shared drive. We have an issue where staff are unable to move "Folders" from their My Drive to Shared Drives. My understanding is that they have to be managers. Currently only IT Admins are managers with the department members being Content managers. We have Allow content managers to share folders ticked and Allow managers to modify shared drive settings unticked on the shared drive settings. What permissions do you give your staff? Cheers

Cheers They would need to be a manager of the drive to be able to do this unfortunately. They can move files, just not folders. EDIT - Take a look at this permission guide. I found/still find it very useful. https://support.google.com/a/users/answer/12380484?hl=en Edited July 18, 2024 by HyperTech
Jaan Posted July 18, 2024 Author Posted July 18, 2024 I thought they (Google) would allow the moving of folders to content managers by now..... i thought a custom admin permission would do it but it doesn't seem to work!
TwistedHelixis Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 I sure I got it working without needing to be a manager of the drive. Ill go check now.
TwistedHelixis Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 I deleted the user now, so this could be completly wrong.... GW > Apps > Drive > Migration Settings Tick > Allow editors to move files into shared drives. I know the info goes on about moving other people files, but seem to remember it also enabled the feature you are after.
whartomt01 Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Same problem. Staff are content managers. They can add files to shared drives but not move files between drives. I don’t allow sharing folders from shared drives either. They can request though. A bit of a pain but staff are used to it now
