Naqeeb1 Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Hello guys I have been having issues with Mac PC's lately, users can't login until i unbind the PC's from the network and bind them again. Another fix i tried when the binding does not work is to reset the PC's, Please is there a permanent solution to this? Your input is much appreciated, thanks in advance.
Brimstone Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 What macOS are you running? I assume you are not using network based home directories as this does not work in macOS any longer.
kevin_lane Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Ensure that the time is correct on the macs and that they are getting the correct dns and ip addressing information 1

Brimstone Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Do you know which version drops support? I'm using macOS 12.7.5 Monterey and this still works. It might do now but just wait until you apply a security patch or update, it will break it, which it appears has happended with the OP.
ovenchips Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Just to add my experiences to this - we had a suite of M1 Mini's installed the summer before last, and had them all sitting on Monterey, joined to a central JAMF. No matter what we tried we couldn't get them to consistently bind or sign in to AD when they did - upgrading to Sonoma fixed this and they've worked perfectly for the past year without any interference, even through OS & Security updates. 1
3s-gtech Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 I’ve just ordered a suite of them, so good to know it works on Sonoma.

I will say if you're using JAMF and binding to AD, leave the network binding out of the enrolment profile and do it manually after everything is installed & updated, was the only way we got them enrolled without any issues or failures.

Binding to AD is NOT the same as configuring a Mac to use a Windows Home Directory, Binding to AD still works very well.
3s-gtech Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Indeed, but the original post referred to login issues which may have been a different issue.
