Many of the power tools sold in Lidl\Aldi contain parts made by the 'big boys'. They use them for testing new items such as motors, controls etc.

Which is why some may have had poor reliability in the past.

Obviously they are not built to the same standards, but the innards can often contain Bosch etc. parts.

 

The power tool market is like a lot of markets - actually a façade of brands all owned by a small number of companies. DeWalt, GQ Tools, Porter-Cable, Oldham Saw Company, Black and Decker and Craftsman are all one company. AEG Electric Tools, Empire Level, Hart Tools, Homelite, Imperial Blade, Kango, Milwaukee, Ryobi, Stilleto, Dirt Devil, Vax, Hoover and DreBo are all owned by another.

I’ve got battery drills by Milwaukee and Ryobi, both 18v but the difference between them is like day and night. If they did come out the same factory no way could you say they are the same.

Coming out of the same factory doesn't make them the same.

 

A lot of chip designers use TMSC to fab their chips, but you can't argue that an Apple M4 is the same as an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

There is no such thing as 'too much' dry cured bacon...

 

Fish products made in the factories here are on the same line for M&S, Waitrose, Tesco and other supermarkets, just get put into different boxes. All come from the same place.

Well, I guess apart from certain fish that only live in certain places (or being sold as hand-reared by mermaids or whatever), it might be harder to sell cod being caught in the 'Atlantic' as being much different to those caught in the 'North Sea'? *other seas and oceans available* So I wonder if M&S or Waitrose sell at a higher price. I guess if you buy food from there you expect to pay more probably, just because... but do you actually expect it to be a different/better quality product than Tesco...? Maybe if it's then made into a finished 'product', but not if it's just the fish...

 

Actually I do seem to remember in another life I did a stint on a 'factory' butchers line... we had to put certain cuts of meat into polystyrene trays, same cuts... but different trays for different supermarkets. Pretty sure it was all from the same cows...

That's funny, I always remember as a kid hearing the urban myth that ANY cheaper brand was the sweepings off the floor of a better 'name' brand.

They are the same product, in the same bottle, made by the same company. The Boots one is £2.49 more expensive!
