I can't help but feel that it's too late for this. Those three people were absolutely crucial to the film and a new film without them would miss them hugely. Hopefully I'm wrong though!

My thoughts too. I'd absolutely love to see this, as the original is a masterpiece - much of that however is due to those wonderful people. The prospect of Rick coming back has been "possible" for a while, but considering how much he turned down for the last Ghostbusters, I'd say it's highly unlikely.

 

Could be wrong. I mean, I can't see how the new Naked Gun reboots will work without Leslie Neilson, but one thing we can do with is silly, brain in neutral, slapstick fun.

A very divisive character, but EXTREMELY good at judging his target audience. The Orville was a better Star Trek than most Star Trek whilst being funny to boot, as he was effectively writing a love letter to it.

I still can't get my head round Liam Neeson though. I mean, I doubt there are many better at keeping a straight face but this, like a glass coffin - remains to be seen.

I don't know if it will work but I think this makes sense if you consider that Leslie Nielsen had built a reputation as a serious actor before doing comedy in movies like Airplane. Part of the appeal I think was the cognotive dissonance of seeing Serious Drama Actors™ doing comedy like that.

I mean he's worked with Seth a few times before, Ted and indeed a Million Ways to Die in the West and works well there. Quite a different role though. I'm not sure it's cognitive dissonance being surprised to see him laying down, bare cheeked with a daisy sprouting from his sheriffs badge!
