Smoothwall - Connection tracking table size

I'm hoping someone at Smoothwall can answer this but what happens if the Connection tracking table size is less than the Auto setting and what does this do?

 

We found that the Connection tracking table size was less than auto and since changing it back to auto networks have been stable, so what it is actually doing?

It's basically how many connections the kernel can keep track of. Too small? Maybe you will drop stuff when you don't want to? Too big? It uses RAM, and probably a slight CPU penalty. IIRC "Auto" is calculated based on RAM installed.

Id definitely keep it at "Auto" or higher. Sort of thing folks worried about when you had RAM in Mb and all this was fields.
