ITGuyNW Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Hi all More of a poll really. Do you sync your MIS pictures to o365/Google? It's part of the automated sync tool we now have but when I suggested it I was taken back by the vitriol in the replies! You'd think we were leaking personal information on the dark web. So just seeing if anyone else does it..
DrCheese Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Yes we do - Salamander sync's our MIS photos to AD, which in turn get sync'd to 365 so appears in Outlook/teams blah blah When we have students ask to opt out/change photo we manually change the photo in Azure which overrides the AD photo thumbnail online. 2
jthompson Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 (edited) We don't. Certainly not for students. We also lock those profile fields so as to prevent end users from modifying them. Google usernames, display names and profile pictures are always publicly visible. You can't restrict their visibility to just your domain. IDK if the same is true for M365 profiles, but we lock those, too. EDIT: I stand corrected (maybe). I can now see that you can make your Google Workspace profile picture visible either publicly or only to the org. I'll have to see if there are any mechanisms to control that centrally. Olliedawg Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Same as DrCheese, we use Salamander to sync MIS photo to AD. (staff and student). Users can opt out on request 2
