Acronis Cyber Protect - Teams backup - What is going on?

Hi, we use Acronis Cyber protect to backup Microsoft 365 tenant, including OneDrive, Email and Teams. However we are seeing almost our data doubled in the backgrounds when we look at the Teams backups and wondered if anyone else had experienced this? We have tried to get this looked at by Acronis, but the customer servers has not been the greatest.

Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud: M365 Team channel files are backed up twice

 

Symptoms

You have created a protection plan for your Microsoft 365 Teams to Acronis Cloud

 

When you check the storage, Team channels files are backed up twice:

• The 1st time as site backup
  
• The 2nd time as a channel backup, which takes up twice as much space on the storage.
  

 

 

Cause

This behavior is by design.

 

Acronis Development team will improve this behavior in one of the nearest releases.

 

In the meantime, please fellow the workaround below:

 

Workaround

To resolve the issue, exclude team sites from the backup.
