Jobos Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 I set Solus3 to install the Consolidated Workstation Patch 2 last week and on the whole it went well but the sims server failed to install the patch. The first part of the patch installs but the second part fails saying one or more errors occurred. Solus3 agent keeps trying to install but each time it fails. On the server Sims is showing 7.216.22.0 whereas all other machines show Sims as 7.216.22.2. No errors are listed in event viewer. Any advice please?
OLPTech Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 This might help: https://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/237969-sims-patching-new-user-prompts.html Basically ESS Messed up. We had to do this from our support company: 1) Open SOLUS3 Deployment UI on the server - Usually located as a desktop icon. 2) Navigate to Settings | SOLUS3 | Updates and run a 'Get Updates' button, making sure that 'from the last 3 months' has been selected in the drop-down menu. You should see a box appear; please make sure that consolidated workstation patch 2 is included 3) Restart the SOLUS3 deployment service within services.msc. 4) Download and re-deploy the patch. 5) Apply fileset 2701 again. 2

Thanks, our sims support has already given me those instructions but it didn't work so I was thinking of renaming the sims folder and reinstalling but didn't want to make things worse. Anyway, I've got the sims support remoting in later today so I'll see how they fix it.
Michael Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 On top of this, Fileset 2702 is to be published, as Fileset 2701 has issues (apparently) - but it won't be until after Census on Thursday.
Planehazza Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 On a related note, I'm having bother at multiple sites where I cannot push this patch to the DB server. Error about an existing object. How do I purge an attempted deployment and start afresh?
Jobos Posted May 14, 2024 Author Posted May 14, 2024 So support remoted in to fix it but the answer was really simple when you think about it. The problem was the third party services on the server like Groupcall, Inventry, Parentmail, Wonde that needed stopping before the patch would install. I don't know which service was causing the patch to fail as they stopped as many as they could before using SOLUS3 agent to install the patch but it worked first time then just restart the stopped services again. 1
