Google Workspace - Best admin option to forward emails to another account.

In Google Workspace there are 2 different ways I can see to forward an email from one account to another, and both options seem to work.

 

Until now, I have always used the last option below.

 

So which of these is the correct way to forward emails.

 

Gmail > Default routing

or

Gmail > Routing > Email forwarding using recipient address map

I use the second one. It's exactly what the option is there for, and the rules when added are fairly clear for other admins to interpret.

Second option for me too.

 

We use Routing for routing emails to Egress so if someone puts in [encrypt] in the subject, the mail will be routed through the Egress mail servers. I don't think staff use Egress as much these days.
