Google Drive (Windows App) users

Hi,

 

Quick favour please! If using the Google Drive app so you get G: drive (or whatever you've mapped it to) on your devices, could you please peruse C:\Program Files\Google\Drive File Stream and let me know if you have a "deleteonreboot" file?

We're still trying to resolve our magically deleting files issue. This file appears present on most machines, however on a couple of the ones we're having issues with, the file contains some lines other than what I'd expect. I don't know the behaviour of this file, but I assume it's to tidy up after updates and should delete the files listed therein.

The "bad" machines have the root folder listed.

This might be something of nothing but would like to see if others have the same?

Yes on all, but no issues to report.

I'd agree this is to do with the GD client and not the user file cache, which is stored in their Windows profile - C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Google\DriveFS

Not at my "Google" school today, but I have Google Drive on my machine and have not noticed any problems. The file you mention is present, and contains the following list.

Indeed, thanks. Google support is still being less than helpful, and we've even had an awesome 3rd party expert have a look and all agree something is amiss. Going over everything with a fine toothed comb at the moment.

A typical "deleteonreboot" file appears to be relating to old versions:

Just curious, but do these problems show up on a standalone/home device for example and nothing to do with your local domain devices when signing in using a school account?

None of them have it installed on any device other than their staff laptop - we're trying to see if we can replicate the issue and that includes on a non-domain joined machine.
