willtech Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 (edited) Anyone with expired VMware support contracts, take a backup of the keys you have. Broadcom are not moving them over to the new VMware support site. https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleId=282163 Only license keys that have an active support contract will be brought over to Broadcom systems. After approximately Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. (PDT), if you have license keys associated with expired support contracts, you won’t have access to them in the Broadcom systems. If you require continued access to those licenses, please follow the instructions outlined in this knowledge base article to download these keys before 5:00 p.m. (PDT) on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Millgate_Jon Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 Good spot Will - Was just about to post this myself after contacting our clients about it. For info this is what we`ve sent to our clients: "It has just come to our attention that Broadcom have posted the below on their website with an announcement that out of support keys will not be transferred to their new Broadcom site and the old portal is being retired. We ask that you check if this affects you, and that you download any relevant key for safe keeping as they will no longer be available after today. Only license keys that have an active support contract will be brought over to Broadcom systems. The two articles below via Broadcom may be useful for you to read: VMware Licensing Transition to Broadcom knowledge base article This will need doing by midnight tonight." Good Luck Everyone! 2

psydii Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 UPDATE: Funnily enough their reporting service just completely stalled because everyone is trying to export their licence reports on the advertised deadline: Reporting Services Alert Due to a significant surge in traffic, our reporting services are experiencing a slowdown. We are actively working to enhance the experience but delays may occur. Please note that reports functionality is available until May 5th 5 pm PDT. So they seem to have extended it. 2
PotNoodleTech Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 Ah it's the oracle takeover of sun microsystems all over again - change all the licensing, then force everyone to recertify their support at great cost, and then continue squeeze the customers so hard every year that within two years you won't have any customers left at all! Sun doesn't exist any more and I don't know anyone that buys oracle servers. Might be time to wave goodbye to Vmware - it's been a good 10 years!! Serious shame to see some of the best and most innovative software in the last 10years destroyed by a greedy takeover. /salute
Millgate_Jon Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 ***Runs away to learn as much about Hyper V as he possibly can, and quickly!
Chockster Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 The reporting service is down again today, and they haven't extended the expiry date beyond May 5th. We are actively working to restore this service by Thursday, May 2nd. Please contact your Technical Adoption Manager or Support Account Manager if you have questions or need support.
