russdev Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 Right need some ideas I have folder on each of the drives called backup_test and we use ntbackup (server 2003) to backup etc. What want to do is create an automated way of restore those folders so each day can run the script it restores those folders and this means we know if we have a working backup etc. Problem is that ntbackup doesn't allow restore from the command line so anyone got any ideas how we could do this. dhicks Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 What want to do is create an automated way of restore those folders so each day can run the script it restores those folders and this means we know if we have a working backup etc. You could try some of the unit testing frameworks, designed for testing in software development environments - Google for "unit test framework". TCL is a language often used in unit testing environments. There is, of course, the ever-brilliant and versatile AutoIt. -- David Hicks 1
SYNACK Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 As there is no command line option or api calls for the restore funtion the best bet would be to send key presses directly to an active ntbackup window using something like AutoIt( Function Send ) or a dedicated scriptable app that does the same thing ( Program to send keystrokes to active window - untested ) 1
FN-GM Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 I don't use ntbackup but can you not schedule a restore? 1
