Music Player Software without Playback Speed Option

Hi,

 

Just wondering if anyone knows of any media player software that does not offer changing the playback speed functionality on the music files?

We're after this for our independent language exams. It seems recently, that exam guidelines have changed and media players we previously used like VLC or Windows Media Player cannot be used for listening exams as they could allow pupils who are entitled to a laptop to slow down or speed up the spoken language tracks in their exams.

Is there anything out there anyone is using to meet this regulation? Or maybe is there a way VLC or WMP be locked down to just the usual Start/Stop/Pause options?

 

Any help on this would be most appreciated

Winamp wont allow the changing of playback speed without the use of additional plugins. And apparently, despite not having had any update for about 10 years now, it's still technically "supported".

This is one of the "more a job for invigilators" things, there's only so much we can do. Some people run these entirely via devices like CD players, MP3 players and can't technologically disable that function, if it has it. From our IT perspective, it might be a good idea to run through any classroom management software ala netsupport, impero or senso to help keep an eye if they're not constantly walking around and know what to look for.

@synaesthesia it does read a bit like they expect the ability to change the speed to be present but that candidates are not allowed to use it in contrast to internet access for example

Perhaps if exam guidelines are being so stringent they can suggest what software would be appropriate?
