starschool Posted March 29, 2024 Posted March 29, 2024 Hey there, how are you doing?I require your assistance for the installation of Smoothwall configuration in our school. There's a lab called the IT room with over 20 PCs; they're not part of the Active Directory, just PCs with internet connections. I want to install Smoothwall on these PCs. I have the Smoothwall ID number, API key, and tenant ID. I have also downloaded the latest version of the Smoothwall IDexAgent. However, when I try to open IDexAgent, it does not open. Do you know how to configure it? Your support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
starschool Posted March 29, 2024 Author Posted March 29, 2024 Actually, I've never worked with Smoothwall before, so this is my first time. I would appreciate any guidance and support from our forum. Thank you.

starschool Posted March 29, 2024 Author Posted March 29, 2024 https://we.tl/t-zll1ytBwqc My manager sent me instructions for Smoothwall installation on Domain Group Policy. However I need to install it on some PCs that are not part of the AD server. I have the UN, API key and tenant ID I installed IDex Agent 2.3.5 but when I try to open it it's not opening Also when I'm trying to install this on server same error not opening the IDex Agent exe
bknaggs Posted March 29, 2024 Posted March 29, 2024 Idex needs a domain. It reads AD to identify who is logged in.
ibpalle Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 https://kb.smoothwall.com/hc/en-us/sections/360004832659-Windows - choose the manual install option. You wont need the API key. However, without a domain login, users will be seen as default users, so likely getting student level filtering.
starschool Posted April 3, 2024 Author Posted April 3, 2024 I tried to install via manual also I already downloaded smoothwall Unified Client and Safeguarding Client
Netwacky87 Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 Have you downloaded the correct file? https://software.smoothwall.com/unified-client/smoothwall-unified-client-3.0.0-windows.zip In the .zip there is a 'prepare-manual-install.ps1'
