motoguy Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 Hi all , Ive come across and old phone system that i wish to use for my business, bt versatility 3100l im hoping someone can help Ive had it connected via the com port/versatility wizard and appears to be working, its got the following cards installed : Voice / IDSN-PSTN 1 / IDSN-PSTN 2 -- missing PRI but i may be able to find it-- i only need it to perform a simple job ... For example 1 line in / have 2 analog phones connected to versatility Customer calls and hears “press 1 for manufacturing or press 2 for repairs” -- Can i record a custom message -- ? If they select 1 it forwards to phone on line 1 (in manufacturing area) If they select 2 it forwards to phone on line 2 (in a repairs area) I would like number recognition if possible And obviously need to be able to dial out on either phone Is this possible ? Thanks in advance
Davit2005 Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 (edited) PSTN is going to be switched off in 2025. You might be better putting effort into a VOIP solution. https://business.bt.com/help/article/phone-line-and-services/move-from-traditional-lines-to-the-cloud/the-pstn-and-isdn-switch-off-what-it-means-for-you/ A VOIP system might give you a lot more options on top i.e. Office hours, voicemail, notification to users via email if they have missed a call etc. I use 3cx but there are other solutions. motoguy Posted March 25, 2024 Author Posted March 25, 2024 Ok , I was going to plug it into my router analog phone connection / adapter I thought this might not be affected ?
Aprice Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 I'd agree with the above, I wouldn't waste any time on something like that BT kit, which looks pretty obsolete. I'd have a look at a propper VOIP system like 3cx which is probably free for the number of ext you need.
motoguy Posted March 27, 2024 Author Posted March 27, 2024 ok 3CX does sound good , im just not sure if i can set up as i wanted above i think ill need switch from the router that goes from 1 line to 2 like a Grandstream HT802, for two analog/digital phones Then im not sure is 3cx will work in the way i need with the free account
BlueFoxSystems Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 Perhaps scrap the analogue phones and just get 2 reconditioned VOIP handsets if you are worried about costs?
motoguy Posted March 27, 2024 Author Posted March 27, 2024 well i think analog will work its just if 3cx is capable of forwarding to either line 1 or 2 through the switch connected to the router , based on callers button press 3CX do recommend this is a compatible switch on their website -Grandstream HT802
