jakepq Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 We are using a Jamf MDM system to managed 10 shared iPads and are currently figuring out a way to authenticate the students that are using them. We have most recently tried to use Redirect Users to SSL Login Page (with session cookie) on a specified proxy port in smoothwall, however the session cookie doesn't clear when signing out of the iPad and we cant see a way to modify this setting in Jamf. Has anyone had any experience authenticating Jamf Managed Shared iPads with Smoothwall?
ibpalle Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Using the SSL login with background tab may be a better option - session cookie keeps the user logged in as long as the browser hasn't been closed. The background tab option allows you to logout more reliably.

I'm running some tests - how can I tell from an iPad client if it is actually using session cookie as opposed to background tab? Sorry for thread hijack
howartp Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Does [smoothwall]/modules/auth/cgi-bin/auth/useractivity.cgi (the User Activity page) show you the SSL type? It shows us Radius versus iDex etc.

ibpalle Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 You should be able to tell by the proxy auth policy they used. Also, if you are using the background tab method, go to the login page manually and it will tell you you need to keep the tab open to stay logged in.
