Possibly getting rid of 16x AG Neovo 17" 4:3 monitors

Over easter we are looking to get rid of 16x Ag Neovo E-17 (https://computeuk.co.uk/shop/AG-17-E17DA) monitors and wondered if anyone would be interested in them?

Here's the issue with 4:3 monitors (and the main reason we're starting to get rid of ours too,) is that we still have many that work just fine but it doesn't matter how new the computer you connect it to is, the first comment from users when they sit down in front of a 4:3 display is usually "this computer's really old" or a variation of which also includes the question of "can I have a new computer?"

 

I had a comment from a supply teacher a while back when she was teaching in one of our main ICT suites (where the computers aren't actually particularly old) and she decided to tell me that our computers were ancient compared to the computers at where they were much newer. Difference being, was that they had suites where the monitors were 16:9 and that was enough for the computers to be considered newer than ours!

I've too heard that at our place. Some people don't get that the screen isn't the computer (i partly blame those AiOs for that).

 

It's taking all my will power to WEEE the old 4:3 monitors which are being replaced and not keep them in storage. I get they are old and tech has moved on but they are working monitors and no doubt will benefit someone somewhere.

I remember buying these in from 2004 - about 2011

 

They were fab monitors - glass fronted if I remember so tough and perfect for schools.

 

If someone made a 24" wide-screen version for suites that would be fab.

thought about putting our WEEE 4:3 in a row and somehow having it as a very long narrow video wall /ticker type display but never had the time to try it

Had something similar recently...

 

Our bursar came down to my office and commented on how old my 'computer' was (of course she was referring to my monitors).

 

Admittedly I do envy those who post photos on here of their triple 26" widescreen set-up, but I do ok with my 'hand me down' dual monitors where I've replaced them with better ones for the staff.

 

Although I guess the HannStar (Hanns-G HU196D) one does look a bit like what someone 20 years ago thought looked cool and futuristic...

Unfortunately it was only our Bursar and not our Business Manager... for some reason they've always been two separate staff member roles.

 

Maybe that's one reason why we can't afford new kit...

 

Edit: Also I don't want to be as bad as the staff, going to them complaining about my 'old computer' (even if they believed it was) and be the one adding to the very thing we are complaining about! Also the actual computer is an HP Z440 workstation (Xeon/32GB/SSD) so not too bad.

Yeh I upgraded my own and my tech's PCs 6 months ago as were were using 10 year old HP Z200s that we got second hand as it was and they were getting real slow unreliable and doing weird stuff.

 

Now have HP Z4 each with decent 10 core/32GB ram from ICT direct now specced with CD writers - and happy.

Don't forget that Z440 isn't Windows 11 compatible - it is old now so you'd not just be replacing it to give yourself the shiny things!

I remember the first flat screen monitors I saw were Neovo glass fronted ones. They were in a primary school that was situated under a pilon and CRTs jiggled constantly so they had to go flat screen. I shudder to think what the pilon did to the kids' cells.

AGNeovo still have a glass fronted range (but they look like they're mostly for industry/medical use cases). Or Dough do glass fronted screens. But they're both rather pricy.
