DeGrimmy Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 We have Smoothwall, but had the same thing reported to us this morning. We've had a spate of YouTube issues lately and we've been messing around with our configuration, so I had chalked it up to that, but in this case, I was able to solve it by allowing "youtube.googleapis.com" and "youtube.googleapis.com/s". I don't know if they're new URLs or if it was because of our messing around, but you'd think this would be covered by default YouTube policies.
robintech Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 i read something on here about it could be used to bypass firewalls so most of them are blocking it
exa_thomas Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 Our support team has investigated this issue; in this case, it would appear that the behaviour was due to the policy blocking youtube.googleapis.com. While SurfProtect provides a “domain doctor” feature, which does help when attempting to identify related sites required to make an app work, we know it is not an easy task. It is why we worked on this issue, and our R&D has excellent news coming soon, which will make the management of web applications much easier and should prevent this kind of hard-to-diagnose issue.issues.

exa_thomas Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Thank you for letting me know. I am not part of the support team, but I am sure they will also be able to resolve this issue for you if you contact them. I have informed them of the thread. It should be resolved very promptly; if not, our support will be able to escalate to our R&D team to look further into the issue, which is one of the benefits of having this development in-house. 1
