Rob_D Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 Hi, Our Smoothwall, Youtube comment removal policy has stopped working. We've not changed anything recently, and as far as I can see the content modification policies all look correct. Is anyone else seeing this?
ibpalle Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 Are the other content mods for youtube working? When you go to youtube and look at the certificate, is it a Smoothwall generated one? 1
Joeloman Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 We have tested through the Proxy and in the Cloud Filter and both Youtube Comment removal and Youtube Remove adverts works without any problems... 2
Rob_D Posted February 23, 2024 Author Posted February 23, 2024 Thanks for your reply. The only other YouTube content mod we have enabled is ad-blocking, which has never worked, even when the hide comments one did. - I've just put this down to google's on-going battle with ad-blockers. The certificate doesn't look like a smoothwall issued one (see below). I've double checked and we do have a decrypt and inspect policy for youtube enabled.
ibpalle Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 I assume this is not a cloud filter extension client? Normally this is caused by the browser using the QUIC protocol - Youtube and Google searches can switch to QUIC if that isn't blocked. Try blocking outgoing requests for UDP ports 80 and 443 in the firewall. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QUIC 1
Rob_D Posted February 23, 2024 Author Posted February 23, 2024 Awesome! Blocking QUIC seems to have fixed the issue. Now to make sure that's not going to break anything else. Thanks!
ibpalle Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 QUIC enabled apps and browsers should all revert to tcp if QUIC isn't available. 1
Rob_D Posted February 23, 2024 Author Posted February 23, 2024 How is the best way to keep up with these things and the filtering/firewall updates required to keep them in check?
