Just in case anyone else is fed up with MS making perfectly good products that just work and turning them into trash.

Yes I am looking at you clipchamp, I want to edit a video, I don't need or want to create MS accounts.

https://shotcut.org/ provides a nice simple video editor.

They also provide a portable version.

That is important, as you can use their zip file and a start up script to copy it to a local drive. It's not a super fast install but it works.

This worked for me with windows 11, just change the paths to suit.

Powershell script.

MS make a good Video Editor, when did that happen

 

I guess the only think good that it was free and relatively easy to use. But then there are other better options that are free or cheap.

Tell me about it, I had for the first time in years, a couple of clips of a murmeration I wanted to stitch together, and the hoops Clipchamp made me jump through made me go off and use something else.

And it was Shortcut!

I miss windows live movie maker. So easy for kids and staff and worked really well.

Do like DaVinci Resolve for the bigger projects when they come up. Also miss Movie Maker dearly.

Movie maker was so easy to use even teachers could use it. /s
