Scratches of Projector Lens

Does anyone know if it is possible to have the projector lens repolished to remove scratches?

 

We now have 2 projectors that are no longer useable or are they now just very large paper weights?

You can get lens polishing creams / cloths - a quick Google brings up some YouTube how-tos. For the cheap / quick option, you can use Brasso, the wadding you get in cans (available in the cleaning section in supermarkets), it acts as a very fine abrasive. Bear in mind that polishing a lens like that will remove any coating from the outside, but if the lens is unusable with scratches anyway it's probably worth a try.

Polywatch may be a better option than Brasso as it is a very fine paste (I think jewelers rouge may be an ingredient) and is used for removing scratches from watch glass (non sapphire\hardlex). That reminds me, I need to order some more!

Be careful when buying though as they do a couple of versions, one for acryclic and other plastic lenses, and one for glass crystal.

It is definitely worth trying to polish the projector lens to remove scratches. You can contact a professional repair service or the manufacturer to see if they offer this service.
