ITGURU Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 Over time i've carried out the migration from Local exchange 2019 to 365 for mailboxes etc and now creating new Distribution lists in 365 rather than local. However still have over 100 email groups in AD which we update the members via AD. Also, there are some email groups which have delivery management settings, of which I believe can only be managed from local exchange ECP. If i go down the route of switching off the exchange server, I can still add/remove members from the DLs using AD but then won't have the delivery management functionality unless use powershell management tools on my client. I believe that i can delete the local groups and re-create them in 365 which wouldnt be an issue. The only possibility would be if staff use Outlook and have the old email address in the auto complete list, they will get an undeliverable because the group ID has changed, and would then get an influx of support calls!? Has there been any later steps/changes that now allow existing local DLs to be fully moved to 365 DLs, NOT 365 groups as still want them as distribution lists. thanks.
chaplic Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 from memory If you take All the proxy addresses with you, especially the x500: addresses and also port the LegacyExchangeDN to an x500 I think it's ok..
