Hi

We are getting Smoothwall Filtering installed tomorrow and I've been trying all week to get our WAN details from RM and all they do is tell me it's not needed but our Smoothwall Install Engineer is insisting is it.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Anything I can do to get these details without getting them from RM?

Thanks

Show my IP won't help much if RM use Private IP address ranges i.e. RFC1918 for your WAN connection. A traceroute or tracert on Windows may well a bit if you can determine the last hop but it likely will only show the next hop not the previous one.

I'd push RM for the details, raise it with your account manager and get SMT to back you up if need be,

Hi

We've got a juniper box onsite and that has a direct connection to the open reach line.

He is after our WAN: IP Address, Subnet mask and default gateway.

I've got the IP address(thank you so much for that) but is there any way of getting the other details

Thanks again

The gateway will be the next hop after your Juniper box I think if that is what smoothwall is replacing. The subnet might be more difficult without access to the Juniper. I'd defo push RM for the details

Also just tell them to give the information - You are the customer...

^^^^^^^^ This

A strong letter from a member of SMT if they do not give it or wipe their feet. We had similar at a previous place, the third party wanted to withhold the info and access details to the firewall (we were migrating to a different third party) a letter from director helped.
