Talltree169 Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has used these before and if they are any good. They look really good on paper but they don't really do face-to-face demos, it feels like its too good to be true and god knows if the board will last couple of years. Thanks
Frodo_Baggins Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 BETT would be good for this if you can make it, looks like they had a stand last year and will have one this year. Seems around standard price vs Iiyama\Viewsonic - What's so good about them? (to play devil's advocate) 1
Talltree169 Posted January 11, 2024 Author Posted January 11, 2024 Hey, the main incentive was the price as it was £500 cheaper than promethean and Clevertouch's similar products. It comes with mirror sharing and over 100s educational apps. These boards are also very robust as they are 3cm thick.
CHiLL Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 We've just taken delivery of two of them, but they aren't getting fitted until Monday, so can't comment yet on their usage. We've bought them without a test unit, so sight unseen, pretty much because they're spec'd well and directed towards education. If they go well, we'll buy those instead of the BenQ's we've been purchasing for future replacements. 1
Talltree169 Posted January 11, 2024 Author Posted January 11, 2024 Which supplier did you go through? "Go education" or straight through "Newline" themselves.
VeryPC_Colin_M Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Newline are a great bunch. Products are solid, with a good warranty. We'd be happy to offer you pricing and options :-)
FragglePete Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 We installed 34 Newline units over last summer around the school. Mostly 75", with a couple of 86" models for the large science labs we have here. Generally, good value for money but do have the occasional issue with them where they won't shutdown, only a power cycle fixes that. Remote controls are a bit flakey, and you to be at a certain angle for them to be picked up (ie, almost straight on). But, image quality and features are very good for the price point. We had a number of them in before the big install last summer, in several batches and each time the hardware seems better than the last batch. We've had a few issues also with HDMI run lengths - this could just be HDMI being really fussy if you go over a certain length, but on a few of our longer runs we've replaced the installed cables with HDMI over optical which has resolved all those issues. UK Support have been very responsive, haven't hesitated in swapping out a unit if we've had an issue You can sort of 'cloud manage' them as well centrally - which is a nice feature. Overall, been very happy. Price point started at around £1600 installed, but this has risen over the years to over £1800 now - this being the 75" with the 86" about another £500 on top. Stone Computers did all our installs so far. Pete
