NetwM Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Hi, A friend of mine borrowed money from me (cash and bank transfer). He was is really bad situation so I helped him. It’s been 2years now and he is making excuses to give my money back. Finally he has agreed to give in a instalment every month. I
ticktock Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Good news he is paying you back at last. Always difficult lending money to friends and family especially if they won't (or can't) pay it back. Good luck, hope the instalments continue.
NetwM Posted December 2, 2023 Author Posted December 2, 2023 He already missed two instalments and promise me to give from next month, I doubt it I will get anything. I need get this written officially so I can prove that I’m gave him money. Any advice???
mikeprice Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 I would start a table showing amount, expected date, actual amount and actual date make it so that you both sign it say that you need it as you are having trouble keeping track and don;t want to forget a payment and ask for extra - or whatever (which would be necessary with me anyway!!) don;t necessarily use it legally - but it does give a graphic reminder of where he is up to and make it more of cimmitment 1
dcwhitworth Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 I suspect you don't have any legal grounds to pursue this without some kind of formal agreement in advance. You may be able to prove you gave them money, but can you prove there was any agreement to repay it ? If you search online for something like 'loaning money to friends' there are several sites offering advice. 1
