Training for Technician

We're having difficulty finding some training for my technician (and further down the line for me also!)

 

Looking for entry level servers / windows server / networking to start off with.

 

All the physical courses I can find are real expensive since covid - sadly the school does not have much money for training.

 

So - how are you all doing this? Back in the old days we payed £1000 and went on a physical course. Job done. Can't seem to find much for under £3000 now. Willing to look at alternatives including solid online courses now - i.e lock ourselves away for a day and just do an entire course.

It depends on your exact requirements but I don't think you can go wrong with CBT Nuggets, not too expensive and all you can eat, self paced learning.

Comptia and Microsoft Learn would be the starting points I guess

YouTube, Udemy, LinkedIn Learning, Microsoft Learn, Cisco Skills For All, Cisco Network Academy, Open University, Apprenticeship if you dont already have a Level 3 qualification, Internet Archive (loads of PDF books you can borrow for free from their virtual library).

 

If you find the right person on YouTube you can learn so much! I've even seen the Author of a popular CompTIA A+ Training Book on there teaching you parts of the A+ and recently I've been learning Microelectronic Repair from a few content creators building on my Electronics background - all for free (just a few adverts to skip)!

Lots of us have pasted alot of free, discounted, and paid for courses, exams, and qualifications.

 

Everything from level 2 courses to level 7 (Masters level), as well as professional certifications and training from Microsoft, Cisco, ICS2, and EC-Council.

In the past, I would have always recommended NEOS based in Worcester. Sadly, they went out of business at the start of this year.

 

However, Lee has started up his own training business - Illuminate Skills - so I'd suggest you give him a shout.

Out of interest is there any education discount on this or is it simply just buy one yearly license per technician?

I would also say keep an eye on INCO Academy. As if you (or your techs) complete their Eco course (it's basic), you get a years free subscription to Linkedin Learning

Has anyone done a comptia exam in person? Nearest test centre for me is Moss Side in Manchester! Anyone ever been?
