Terms and conditions for students on logon

SMT safeguarding team have asked that our (adult) learners are periodically asked at logon to agree to the Terms and Conditions for PC/internet use. They sign a physical copy of these at enrolment, but SMT want them to renew this regularly through the course.

 

Our learners use Windows 11 PCs and Chromebooks.

 

I could do a GPO to post a message at start up that they have to click OK to. But it would be for every logon, and it looks clunky. Is there a commercial product? What about the Chromebooks?

 

Does anyone do anything similar to this in a education environment?

 

Personally I think it's a waste of time and doesn't add anything to safeguarding.

 

PS I've tried searching, but looking for "Windows" "Terms and Conditions" provides hundreds of results.

You can either get them to ignore it and click OK using GPO every time, or have a login script that pops up a message that they can ignore if random(10) == 1 using powershell I expect

Funnily enough, I've been asked the same question for our Students here, as we have many who try and circumvent the security to play games and our Safeguarding person wants something that reminds them of the AUP, that only allows them access if they click accept (with it recording somewhere that they've clicked that button.)

 

Other than turning on the AUP setting in Group Policy, I've no real idea of any other way of doing this other than sitting here writing scripts which I've not much time for and would rather have a ready made up solution.

I have used NetSupport DNA for this.

Logon script to display something if their name is not in the list?

 

Or, reset their passwords and only hand them the new creds once they have signed it.

If they are accessing any Office366 service and you have azure ad p1 license you can enforce 'terms of use' against it which fits your wants exactly. I'd probably homebrew something for windows, not sure about chromebook
