Jamf Auto 365 Sign Out

Hi all,

 

We have 6 iPads that we've setup for an exclusion/timeout area and the iPads are going to be used by the students going up there. One thing we've realised is that the students will likely not sign themselves out of 365 so need an easy solution to this. Does anyone use Jamf and know of a way we can enable some kind of setting or policy that signs the iPads out of 365 applications after a period of time. If it's possible? Or is there a better way to do this?

The best solution is not to use ipads are they are terrible at multi-user and making sure people are logged out.

 

So much so that we completely stopped using them as shared devices as the chances of data breech type issues were too high.

 

Chromebooks on the other hand work perfectly, user signs in, gets their stuff, next user signs in, they get their stuff, all encrypted and no chance of cross contamination.

JAMF do a setup and reset app, https://learn.jamf.com/bundle/jamf-setup-reset-configuration-guide/page/Overview.html . Idea being you take an iPad and choose a setup which then puts the correct apps on, then press reset when finished. But that might not do 100% what you are after or be over kill.

 

If you have federated Apple ID's with Office 365 you could maybe use Shared iPad mode with that?

I completely agree but the school has invested a lot of money into making this place a 1:1 iPad environment so it's out of my control.

There is no auto sign out of 365 or Teams on either macOS or iOS, you will have use the solution mentioned.

Yeah we've discovered as much sadly. This has gone on the backburner and is being managed by exclusion staff currently but will likely use the reset app mentioned.

use the ipads in shared mode and federate with 365? they will logout as soon as they lock?

Another could be to stick a conditional access rule on in Azure AD that signs out after xx minutes?
