Bankesy Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Good morning, Maybe I'm going mad but all of a sudden this morning it seems new Office documents are defaulting to the OpenDocument format for all users when saving? I can't think of anything that would have triggered this change. Anybody else randomly seeing this? Thanks
triangular Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 (edited) The default file format can be set in the Word options menu under the save tab, maybe someone has set it to save to ODT by default? Edited September 14, 2023 by triangular
Bankesy Posted September 14, 2023 Author Posted September 14, 2023 @triangular Maybe, but for it to change overnight for all users like that?
triangular Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Hmm, how are you deploying office? Could be a group policy or intune setting?
Bankesy Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 @triangular Looks like it was where I deployed Office via InTune, it was only ever targeting devices and oddly I never realised that the default was set to the wrong format in the deployment settings but weirdly this seemed to have no effect on the PCs until the night before the issue started I changed the deployment to also include users (because I was trying to fix a Teams update issue) and this appears to have kicked in and changed the default for everybody. I have no idea what is going on really because now I can't get it to revert back, I've tried changing the deployment setting to the correct format, I've removed all users from the deployment, I've put the default back to how it was (incorrect).
mf13tch Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 Hiya, Did you resolve this? I'm particularly keen to know if it was possible through Intune? I have a bunch of machines where Office was deployed through Intune with the wrong format initially (Open Document) and I need to change it to the right (Open XML) format. I've modified the App Deployment policy but will need to fix all the machines/users that it's already applied to. Thanks.
Bankesy Posted May 8, 2024 Author Posted May 8, 2024 @mf13tch Yes, I did solve it via Intune, drop me a DM and I'll send you the screenshots of what I did and where to fix it. Thanks 1
mf13tch Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 Thanks will do. I think I might have found it under Config Profiles > Settings Catalog....
