Cannot add a distribution group to a Team site

Good morning,

 

I have created a test Team site and wanted to add a distribution group as a member.

 

The guidance states that this can be done, but when I search for the distribution group name or email address, it doesn't find any matches.

 

Has anyone got any ideas why this could be happening?

Do you mean a Team? Or a Team site?

 

It used to be one of those you can add dis group to Teams etc but then it auto splits it down to current users, it won’t automatically update as the group changes (not sure if this is still the case)

 

But you can’t add dis groups to SharePoint sites (unless it’s security enabled mail group etc)

Hi Steve,

 

It's a Team I set up. Just a test to see how users can be added but have fallen at the first hurdle.

 

The Microsoft documentation and tooltip says I can add using a distribution/security group or email.

 

Confusing!
